Back in 2009, I started university and found myself making trips back home to visit the dentist when needed. As time went on, my visits became less frequent, but I always still brushed my teeth regularly. However over time regular drinking of Coke and coffee gradually took a toll, turning my teeth slightly yellow. I have become very self-conscious, to the point where I haven’t been able to do a cheesy smile for what feels like ages!
As a child, I had a dental mishap that knocked out my two front teeth, which meant I had no nerves in them, leaving behind unsightly brown marks. I noticed small day to day things like attending Team calls at work and finding myself avoiding opening my mouth, then my daughter noticed my teeth and made a comment about them so I knew it was something I wanted to sort out.
I went to revisit the dentist, but I was no longer on their patient list, therefore had to go private for my dental care. Nevertheless, a recent move and a promotion, it finally motivated me to take action and pay for the treatment. I started off with regular check-ups and then proceeded with two scale and polish appointments.
Amy, my dentist, gave me the option of veneers which was the original plan, or there was the option of composite bonding which was slightly less which I decided to go for. The plan also included addressing the small brown marks and filling the tooth at the bottom with bonding, and whitening.
Over the past nine months, I made about 15 visits to the dentist. I paid upfront for the first few appointments, but it added up. So for the composite bonding and whitening, I opted for a payment plan, allowing me to pay in manageable monthly instalments. My experience with the dentist was amazing, I loved going to them. Amy is really good and all the receptionists are lovely. I get Happier each time I go to the practice and my treatments are always comfortable.
The overall cost of teeth whitening, fillings, and bonding amounted to £1,500. I opted for a 0% interest payment plan over 12 months. The relief that came with knowing I could split the hefty cost and handle it through a structured plan was great. It eased my mind, enabling me to focus on other aspects of my life.
Post-treatment it has hugely impacted my daily life. People have started noticing the change in my teeth. Its inspired me to take better care of myself overall. I have cut down on my coffee and sugar, improved my diet, and even found myself sleeping better. I was running on caffeine before but now I don’t drink dark drinks at all and feel really good! My positive experience with private dental care has inspired my mother to potentially switch from the NHS, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this service to others.
